A quick update on my boys...

Another conversation...

Today in the car our conversation went like this....

Owen - "Mom, have you ever run over a little kid?"

Mom - "Um, no. And that would be terrible if that happened. That would be so sad."

Owen - "Well, what if we were on the freeway and there was a little kid running on it and we were going too fast and couldn't slow down and we ran over him?"

Mom - "Well, kids don't run on the freeway but if that happened that would be so sad."

Owen - "Mom, actually, it wouldn't be sad, it would be great."

Mom- "What? Why would that be great?"

Owen - "Because mom, all kids would love to go to heaven."

Obviously he hasn't grasped the reality of something like this happening but his heart was so matter of fact and serious, focused on the getting to heaven part...

For those of you looking for new recipes, check out my sisters recipe site, Healthy and Easy Recipes. She has turned out to be quite the little 'Martha' (but you can actually afford to make her recipes and all ingredients are in a normal grocery store!). She is faithful to update her site very regularly and she even gives you a meal plan and shopping list for those that want help with their entire weeks meals. I just tried the Lettuce Wraps and they were amazing...favorite recipe to date. I added a sauce to mine and the recipe for that is below...

I halfed the sauce and it was a perfect amount for the Lettuce Wrap recipe.

SPECIAL SAUCE

• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup water
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
• 2 tablespoons ketchup
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1/8 teaspoon sesame oil

Owen wants to be home schooled...

and attend regular school! Apparently he likes school... His cousins are home schooled and he just loves and looks up to his cousins. So the other day he asked me why he wasn't home schooled and I informed him that I had given him the choice a few months ago of picking between the two. And his response was, "Mom, I really want to do both." Oh, ok. And what is a mom with a math and science brain, a degree in finance, to do about that. My brain doesn't think like a teacher, act like one or have the first clue about what to do. But hey, it can't be that hard, he's Pre-K for pete-sakes! So we decided the first two weeks (we're doing two days at home and 4 days at a local preschool), we would study the solar system. I headed to the library and found some books on the planets, stars and sun. Then one night I took a trip to Michaels to get some supplies to make a solar system mobile and glow-in-the-dark paint for some stars. So far, it's been a hit. He's loving it, learning and creating and listening to mom teach. So tonight we hung his mobile (don't judge the scale of things!) and glow-in-the-dark stars and he was thrilled. We read some bible stories about how God made the universe and put the stars in place. It has been a lot of fun. Tonight before bed, he said, "Mom, when is our next homeschool day? I really want it to be tomorrow."
So far, he's serious about this! He's requested learning about cars next week... surprised... I think we'll start with the horse drawn carriage....

Joshua Jude's Photo Shoot!

Joshua Jude had his first photo shoot by our neighbor, Lara George. He is already 3 weeks old, time has already gone by so fast... Every minute is precious with our new little one. Because this is our second baby, I learned how fast time goes with our little ones, so sittting and holding him is what we do most... the time when they need you and want you and depend on you only lasts so long. Owen will be 5 in January and I look at him at night when he's sleeping and see my first baby boy growing up so fast, not needing me as much and becoming more independent... part of growing up I guess... so Joshua Jude gets the mushy mommy, holding him lots. His sweet little face is a daily reminder to me of how much the Lord loves me and has favored me with His blessing. He is beautiful.

Danville Hot Rod Show

Owen and Daddy went to the local car show in town last weekend....Owen was in heaven...he is so extremely fascinated with cars. We are realizing we need to teach him the logos of the different makers....sweet thing sees a buick and yells out, "Mom, there's a Lamborghini." Everything is about fast cars right now, whether it's looking out the window for them, checking out every library book that has to do with them, or re-enacting the sounds of their engines at the dinner table...you name it, we do it with fast and fancy cars. The day was spent posing in front of every car, but not until he lay flat on his tummy next to every car to check out the exhaust pipes!
